My Magician's Nephew Project
For my Magician's Nephew project I chose to be a modern artist. I have Aslan's face in front of a black backround filled with millions of stars because Narnia is the most important setting in the book and Aslan is the most important character. The three dots represent the first initial stars of the creation and the single note in the bottom left corner represents the one note that Aslan sang to create Narnia.

touble don't last
A 230 page book titled trouble don't last by Shelly Pearsall explains how Samual and his guardian run away from their master. The book takes place in Kentucky through Ohio during the 1860's when all African Americans without free papers were slaves. One of the people who raised Samuel, after his mother was sold off , is named Harrison. One night Harrison walks into the house and says, "Come on Samuel, no time for questions." After that, they run and never look back. They head for Canada, and that's why this book is so intense from beginning to end. Will they be captured and killed? Or will they finish their journey to Cananda and become free?Tuesday, October 12, 2010
Kira-Kira
Kira-Kira, a 244 page novel written by Cynthia Kahata, is about a young girl Katie and her sister Lynn growing up in the 1950's. Katie always looked up to her sister. For everything. Even though they were a few years a part. Although these girls were always poor, their parents became poorer. Eventually Lynn was diagnosed with cancer and she suffered for many months. There would be good days, and bad days for Lynn and the family. Then one evening, Lynn passes away. Katie is confused and has her moments, too. This is a very well written book and is recommended to people who enjoy reading about the bond between two family members.Sunday, September 19, 2010

Violet in the Snow
This is the song I chose, "Violet in the Snow." I chose this song because it reminds me of every Christmas when all of my dad's side of the family sings this song, after a little performance that we do together. During the song we try to remember the signs and do the song together in sign language. It also reminds me of when my grandmother would come to the event and would teach us the signs while singing it with her 32 grandchildren before she passed away. This is a song that I can never stop humming to and whenever I hear it, I think of my grandmother.
Give Thanks
Even though this isn't the song I picked, this is another song that is common on my dad's side of the family. This song is also one that I love to hum to, "Give Thanks," and when my dad is playing the piano this song is always pulled out and he sings with all of my sisters and me. Just thought I would let you know.

To Kill a Mockingbird.....
To Kill a Mockingbird, a novel by Harper Lee, is 323 pages long and is about a black man named Tom accused of a rape by a white family. Tom's lawyer, Atticus Finch, tries his best but Tom is still "proved" guilty and is later killed. This is a story seen through the eyes of Scout, Aticus's daughter, with her brother Jem by her side. The conflicts in this story are mainly conflict vs. society.Throughout this novel there is a lot of racism and many small conflicts. The biggest conflict is character vs. society. While in court, Tom and Atticus Finch are just about the only ones who do not believe Tom is innocent of a crime. The time being in the 1930’s in the southern U.S had a huge affect. Being black, not only does the jury think Tom is guilty, but the whole town of
