The 116 paged Sounder, written by William H. Armstrong, describes the life of a poor African American family. But the fact that the book takes place in the southern US in the 1940s causes for some events to happen which change a certain boy's life forever..................

Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry

 273 paged Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, written by Mildred D. Taylor, describes a young girl's journey when living in the early 1900s. Being African American, she, her family, and her community are discriminated, humiliated, and even torchered by people with light skin. Cassie sometimes wonders, and becomes angry to what her community is treated like, and what others call "her kind." The only thing holding Cassie's family together is the land that they own. No one can take their land away, for it shows that Cassie actually has a place of her own, and this gives Cassie's family courage and pride. When things turn for worse, Cassie knows there is still hope.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas

Written by John Boyne, 213 paged The Boy in the Striped Pajamas tells a tale of two boys who meet each other at a fence. Unaware of the Holocaust that was currently happening, they become the best of friends. Eventually, they meet each other every day at the same spot at the same fence, despite the fact that Bruno, whos father runs the concentration camp that Shmuel, the other little boy, lives in, is forbidden to talk to any Jews. This moving story is reccomended to anyone who wishes to open their eyes, and wants to realize how emotional a forbidden friedship can become,

especially during the horrors of the Holocaust.

Brainology

So, here are some study tips from Brainology which can improve our work habits:
1) First there's chunking, or grouping, which seems to work well for me. Grouping is when you take the first letter of each word you need to memorize,  then mix them around until a mnemonic is created. This will help you  to remember things from a list of almost any length.
2) Make sure you pay close attention to everything you want to remember, because information cannot reach long-term memory unless it goes to working memory first!
3) It's a mnemonic itself, and gives five helpful tips when it comes to studying:
                              B reak it dowm
                              R epetition
                              A ctive Learning
                              I nformation Search
                              N ever give up
4) Finally, research shows that constant studying won't even be as effective if you don't have a growth mindset. People with a growth mindset believe that they can develope their brain, abilities, and talent. However, a person with a fixed mindset believe their basic qualities, such as intelligence and abilities are fixed, and can no longer be developed. The elements of a true growth mindset are the following:

Awful Egyptians

Unfortunately my blog will not allow me to insert any images. Anyways, Awful Egyptians is another wonderful 128 book written by Terry Deary. Very similar to Groovy Greeks, it will informs anyone with gross, weird, or random facts about every Egyptian thing in general. Even if you think you know a lot about Egypt, or have learned a lot from school, read this book, and one will discover that the whole Horrible Histories series could be right for them!
